How big is the GTA 6 map?
Rockstar has never published a size figure for the state of Leonida. No square miles, no square kilometres, no official comparison. Every precise number you have seen — 125 km², 83 km², “2.7× GTA V” — traces back to datamined builds or fan measurement, not to Rockstar. This page covers what has actually been said, and by whom.
What has actually been said
The only scale claims from anyone who has seen the game are relative descriptions, not measurements.
- Roughly twice the size of GTA V, three times RDR2 — described by a creator who attended the hands-off preview at Rockstar North in August 2026. Reported
- Vice City itself about double Los Santos, and far larger again once its suburbs are counted — same preview. Reported
- Seven distinct regions spanning city, keys, wetlands, farm country, panhandle town and national park — visible across official trailers and the Extended Look. Confirmed
Relative descriptions from a hands-off session are a reasonable signal, but they are somebody's impression of a demo — not a figure Rockstar stands behind. Treat them accordingly.
Why the numbers elsewhere don't hold up
The specific figures circulating come from leaked builds, and leaked builds are old builds.
Map geometry changes throughout development — areas get cut, water boundaries move, whole districts are rebuilt. A measurement taken from a build that leaked years before release describes a game that no longer exists. That is before the definitional problem: does “map size” mean explorable land, total bounding area, or land plus navigable water? Different answers move the number by multiples, which is why the leak-derived figures disagree with each other so wildly.

Where things are, rather than how many kilometres apart they sit.

That is a more useful answer to “how big is this world” than a contested number: you can see the shape of the state, how the regions relate, and how far the Keys sit from the Panhandle.
